Splitfinger
Unlike modern gloves which are designed to enable the player to trap the ball with the pocket formed between the thumb and forefinger, the player using an old split-finger had to squeeze the ball with the gloved hand and use the throwing hand as a cover-up. Most vintage split-finger gloves have a famous player endorsement or manufacturer mark, and some of these are Hall-of-Fame player endorsed, yet the webbing of a split-finger glove is the best means by which to distinguish them one from another. The "tunnel loop" and "sewn-in"
webbing varieties are antiques. Tunnel loop gloves include a strand of
rawhide or leather lace threaded through a tunnel sewn to the thumb and
forefinger. The sewn-in web variety have a flat strip of glove leather
usually 5/8", 3/4", 1" or more in width sewn directly to the thumb or
forefinger. The last general type of split-finger is the variety with a
large number of webbing variants comprising this group. The
webbing may be, for example, a single, double, or triple web
configuration and may have some interlocking pieces to secure the web
sections to one another.

Nice large glove, check out the piping and leather design on the fingers. The back of the fingers shows the use of gathered leather instead of welting. Very cool rare!
