13. Bloodline OF Jesus
This
is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but
by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the
Spirit is truth. For there are three
that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these
three are one. And there are three that
bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these
three agree in one.
1
John 5:6-8.
According to
the Word, the Christ Jesus came “by water and blood” with the Spirit bearing
witness. This is he that came by
water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and
blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is
truth. 1 John 5:6.(Emphasis added). No doubt the reference to “the Spirit” that
“beareth witness”, because the “Spirit is truth” in 1 John 5:6 above is
the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the
Spirit of truth which bears witness to the Word which is the spirit/will of the
man Jesus. There
is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he
witnesseth of me is true. John 5:32; see also, John 8:18.
For reproof, if we consider who the
“me” is in the context of the Spirit in John 15:26, we find a correlation
between the Word and the Holy Ghost bearing witness therewith. But when the Comforter is come,
whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26 (Emphasis added). The “me” refers to Jesus Himself as the
Word in the Spirit because the Holy Ghost IS that spirit that can only
bear witness to the Word.
We know the “Spirit” (of God) is the
trinity of God, i.e., the Father, the Word (Son), and the Holy Ghost (1 John
5:7 and Matthew 28:19), as each is Spirit in their own identity and they
are one entity (i.e., one spirit) as God. Recall, In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. The same was in the beginning with
God. John 1:1-2. We know God is love and by those three,
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of
judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love
casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made
perfect in love.
1 John 4:17-18 (Emphasis added).
(PLEASE NOTE: this “perfect” love is the love of God BY the Spirit of
God which defines Him. This is NOT man’s
imperfect love discussed previously.)
The Bible also says: And
there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water,
and the blood: and these three agree in one. 1
John 5:8 (Emphasis added).
If we consider the Christ Jesus after His resurrection, in the context
of the witnesses in earth also being the “record” of God in heaven, we find out
what and who we are if we “live in Him”.
Recall, as to Jesus being Emmanuel meaning God with us (Matthew 1:23),
the references to the witness in earth MUST be a reference to Christ Jesus the
man as the Word made Him God from heaven, not earth. Thus, it is His “glorified body” in which we
must live, simply because we died with him for us to live in Him as explained
previously in the context of our old man.
As a man, at all times Jesus has a spirit, soul and body, as each of us
do. (See, 1 Thessalonians 5:23 and
Hebrews 4:12 discussed previously).
By now we know His “spirit” is that of the Word, and not the letter of
it which is the Law. When we live in Him
our spirit/will of man is also the Word in spirit, and not the Law as the
letter of it!
Wherefore,
my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye
should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we
should bring forth fruit unto God. For
when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work
in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were
held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the
letter. What shall we say then? Is the
law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not
known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment,
wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was
dead. For I was alive without the law
once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to
life, I found to be unto death. For sin,
taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the
commandment holy, and just, and good.
Romans
7:1-12.
Adding the fact that the Holy Ghost
is the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit that raised Him from the dead (Romans
8:11), the Holy Ghost is the witness in power to the truth of the Father’s Word
“in Him” and in us if we live “in Him”!
With reference to Christ Jesus the man and 1 John 5:6-8 (above text
at the beginning of this chapter), the Word from heaven is represented by
the “water” or “living water” and the associated cleansing it gives here on
earth. Jesus
answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that
saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would
have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing
to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living
water? John 4:10-11 (Emphasis added).
(By way of reproof, in reference to an event that occurred during Old testament
times, the Bible says: ...And did all drink the same
spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and
that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4. The Bible also says: Husbands,
love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Ephesians
5:25-27 (Emphasis added).)
Could the “water” mean the Spirit
generally and include the Holy Ghost? No.
Even though Jesus made the statement with the Holy Ghost in Him, and the
Holy Ghost is also the “Spirit” (1 John 5:6) as explained in detail previously,
back in the time when the statement was made originally to the woman at the
well (John 4:10-11 above) mankind could not receive the Holy
Ghost because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Adam, the first man, was given the Word of God to live by. The Jews were given the Word as the Law. Hence, the “living water” could not mean the
Holy Ghost for anyone other than Christ at the time of Christ before His
resurrection. In addition, prior to
Jesus receiving the Holy Ghost Himself, e.g., when He was a young man of twelve
years old speaking in the temple, He spoke by the Word in Him and not by the
Holy Ghost. See, Luke 2:42-52. Consequently, for the Word to be living and
unalterable for today, the same must hold true now in our time, and in us for
us to be His ambassadors!
Thus, the “spirit” in the Christ is
the “Spirit” as the Word, and not the letter of the law which is also the Word
that His bodily sacrifice fulfilled. All
who live forever in Him have: 1.) Their own spirit/will of man desiring
the will of the Father, AND 2.) They know the will of the Father because the
“Spirit” is the spirit of the Word being the spiritual will of God–the supreme
law for all mankind. Again, we must DO
His will to be of the royal family, and that spirit (lower case intended) of
the Father that raised Jesus from the dead that gave Him life is the Holy Ghost
as the witness to the Word in Him. The
Holy Ghost quickens our mortal bodies to DO His will as explained previously. (Romans
8:11, Matthew 12:18 and Isaiah 42:1.)
Therefore, 1 John 5:8 says: And
there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the
blood: and these three agree in one. We
know the water is representative of the Word, and the “spirit” is the spirit of
the Word and not the letter of the Law under the new Covenant. The spirit of the Word IS the WILL OF GOD for
all mankind as explained previously.
Stated another way, the Word is the spiritual statement of the Father’s
will as Christ Jesus is alive today, because of the surety of what the Word
said and proof in what happened, i.e., His resurrection. Stated another way, as to men alive in
Christ, the Bible says: [t]he Spirit itself beareth
witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Romans 8:16. The same holds true for Jesus because He too
was man. The spirit/will in the Christ
Jesus is the Word as the power of God the Father’s will in spirit/Spirit, and
the spirit of Jesus the man which the Holy Ghost witnesses.
Therefore, only the Father (1 John
5:7) Himself and the blood (1 John 5:6 and 8) respectively, remain unaccounted
for. Of course, we could make the
association between “the blood” and “the Father” by default based on what was
presented previously, but doing so would cause us to pass by an opportunity for
further edification. Moreover, proof
of the connectivity between the Father and the blood of Jesus’s body in which
we live is definitely a worthy pursuit. (Before proceeding, consider how
confusing this would be if we arbitrarily called the “Holy Ghost” the “Holy
Spirit” and the “water” the Spirit without regard for the Holy Ghost, and the
spirit as the Spirit of God instead of the more specific “spirit” as the Word as the will of God and
not the letter! Without consideration of
the proper context, as many so-called “versions” of the Bible so readily
destroy, it would be impossible to understand the Bible!)
By way of reproof and further
edification, for human procreation there must be two (2) parents. The
conjugation of them in conception of a human initiates the formation of the
body and the blood in the context of the “life juice” in the human body,
including the body of the Christ Jesus the man.
As the only begotten son, Jesus is most assuredly of the bloodline of
the Father who conceived Him by the power of the Holy Ghost in the human parent
named Mary. Hence, the very blood of
Jesus is the working, living, manifestation, of the Father’s witness of Himself
on earth. Jesus
saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou
then, Show us the Father?
John 14:9.
Without that
blood sacrifice there would be no way for us to come to know the Father as a
father, simply because the letter of the Word as the Law would not have been
fulfilled. Remember, after the time
mankind disconnected himself from God’s will in unbelief as the first
transgression, the Father’s will was restored to all of mankind as a choice of
how to “live” (literally and spiritually), by the blood sacrifice Jesus
gave of Himself. Through the Holy Ghost
being the spirit/will of the Father Himself for all who would be His sons,
(Matthew 12:18 and Isaiah 42:1 as explained in detail previously), we know the
Father personally as a child of His, and can do His will personally by
the quickening of that Spirit (i.e., the Holy Ghost). But if the Spirit of him that raised
up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:11.
When we do the Father’s will we do
so according to the quickening power of the Holy Ghost. Again, the Holy Ghost IS the spirit/will of
the Father that bears witness to the will set forth in his Word, if and only
if, we choose to live by it (i.e., His Word)!
This is HOW we live (forever) as a member of the royal family bloodline
according to the law of God, i.e., by doing His will made known to us through
the Spirit! Hence, nobody can do the
will of God in service of Him as a Father/father, personally and individually
as a child of God, without the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost makes us part of the now living body of the Christ Jesus
as explained previously. Because He has
left the earth in physical presence, we take His place as being part of Him–the
members of His body literally!
Thus, the blood in Jesus is the
other physical witness to whom He is as the begotten son of the
Father. This blood serves us as the will
of God by which we come to know the Father by enabling an alive in the body of
Christ possibility while we live in this flesh suit of ours. Hence, as we live in Him our blood is of the
bloodline of the Father as we do His will.
Our blood is our own as we do our own will of the flesh. We are adopted in spirit (our own will of
man), but alive in His body. Hence, by
the sacrifice of His body according to the will of the Father, the flesh of
Jesus is a form of sustenance for our flesh as our sins are forgiven (and
forgotten). The blood of Jesus is a form of sustenance for our soul as we
are alive again by the spirit of His Word being the will of God, and His
(Jesus) blood. As part of the will of
the Father we come to know the Father as a father through the Father’s spirit–the Holy Ghost, and live in the body of
the begotten son Christ by His blood literally and spiritually. Hence, as we are His and do His will we prove
we are of His bloodline. Again, For
whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my
brother, and sister, and mother. Matthew 12:50. For
whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and
mother. Mark 3:35.
Hence, the blood of Jesus keeps our
own soul alive if we choose to live by it in our spirit/will of
man. The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Romans 8:16. The Holy Ghost bearing witness therewith
keeps our spirit/will alive as our spirit/will becomes the Word governing the
disposition of our own soul, and we become part of the entire bloodline of the
Father as an obedient child of His. No other religion, no other alleged
prophet, no other deity in any polytheistic or monotheistic culture or society
anywhere or at any time makes this claim, or could make this claim ever!
This bloodline distinction of flesh
and spirit is the source of the “hard saying”: “except ye eat the flesh of the
Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you” causing many to turn
away from following Jesus. Here it is:
Then
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh
of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my
flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the
last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that
eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the
living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me,
even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not
as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall
live for ever. These things said he in as he taught in Capernaum. Many
therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard
saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured
at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? the synagogue, What and if ye
shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that
quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they
are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For
Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should
betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto
me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his
disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
John 6:53-66.
For reproof, we may now testify of
Him as His brethren, and yet as part of Him–on HIS behalf, because:
1.) we have Him in us as the “living
water” (i.e., the Word), 2. we have the Spiritual “witness” in us–the Holy
Ghost, and 3. are of the bloodline of the Father (i.e., the will and love of
God the Father) as to our very purpose just as Jesus was when He was here
ministering to others! This is the love
of God made perfect in us!
